Hello..I was wondering if anyone on the site has done any detecting in Truth or Consequences out near the WSMR...and if that area is off limits? Thanks..any advice is appreciated.
Hi,My wife and I have been metal detecting for about four years. We started after retiring and because an old trail goes through our property south of Topeka, Kansas. We love history, and thus we became hooked on detecting! We will be in the Taos, NM area for a week or so in early July. We would love to find a few places to swing our detectors. Just about anything old that we can research is what we look for! Coins are nice, but the key for us is "old" and "interesting" which can include anything from old shell casings or bullets to parts of old wagons, old rings or other jewlery, to just about anything!I have been reading a lot of what others have posted, and that has helped a lot. I am still not completely sure just where we can and can't detect and what we can and can't keep. If we get permission from land owners are the rules the same for their property? What about the old ghost towns? Someone has to own them! Are they private or public? Thanks for any help you can provide. It is appreciated.
Friend comin in town and looking for some good places to metal detect for some good finds. There are many ghost towns in New Mexico and I am curious if the Average Citizen is allowed to metal detect and treasure hunt on these lands. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Some of the forest sites might be good too but don't know much about it!
Hello! I am researching about Maria Barcelo- Dona Tules buried gold coins. Anyone here know much about this?
Emails and submittal on home page are bouncing back undeliverable. Coming to Santa Fe from Denver and want to hear about rules and regs down there. And maybe some advice on where to go
I have an old gold mine in Glorieta, NM and am looking for a club/members with the equipment and expertise to check it and the rest of the claim out to see if there is anything there. The history of it is interesting and somewhat indicative of gold being present. Would love to hear back from you regarding your thoughts on this and a working arrangement regarding split of any finds. If no interest, can you suggest other clubs or sources?

Hi, I have some 200 Morgan silver dollars, other silver coins and a few gold coins buried in the Taos County Landfill. I know where there are within about 100 feet. They are 5 to 15 feet deep in the decaying garbage. Do you know anyone who can help me find them?
